Sara Mills Mazie, Chair, CareerCatchers, Inc. Board of Directors, until June 2011 served as a member of the Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service, and as the Budget Coordinator for the Research, Education, and Economics Mission Area (REE) in the Department of Agriculture. In that capacity, she oversaw development of the budgets for the four REE agencies, the Agricultural Research Service, the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, the Economic Research Service, and the National Agricultural Statistics Service, totaling over $2.5 million. She also led REE implementation of management issues focused on program assessment and accountability. Before becoming the Budget Coordinator in 1996, Sara served in several senior–level positions on the Economic Research Service (ERS) management team. During that time, she was US delegate to the Rural Development Working Group of the Organization of Economic Development Cooperation, the international think tank of the developed nations. Earlier in her career, Sara was a policy analyst in the Office of Rural Development Policy at USDA and co-edited a book on the status of rural America. She has also served in research capacities at the National Urban Coalition, the Urban Institute, the RAND Corporation, and the Commission on Population Growth and the American Future, generally working on economic development issues. Sara has a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cornell University and a Master’s in urban and regional planning from Columbia University.
Lillian White, Treasurer, CareerCatchers, Inc. Board of Directos, is Assistant Controller, Accounting for the American Psychological Association, a 120-year old NFP with $110M revenues. In her 9 years of service at APA, her primary responsibilities have been in aspects of finance that are not “operations” based which includes oversight of the corporate Budget & Reporting Office, daily cash management, grants administration ($4-6M), and delivering accounting or financial oversight to APA’s affiliated organizations: 48 divisions in specialty areas of psychology, the APA Practice Organization (a 501©(6) companion organization), the American Psychological Foundation, and its many subgroups and caucuses. Recently, she accepted the additional responsibility of overseeing the new Financial Monitoring & Accountability initiative instituted by APA’s new CFO and in response to the many recent economic challenges. Previous to her tenure at APA, she served 9 years as Controller (4 years as financial analyst/staff accountant) at a government contractor specializing in marine services and facilities management and 8 years at a local CPA firm. In 2008 she provided pro bono support to the CareerCatchers program of Today’s Family and was instrumental in helping prepare the IRS 1023 documents for creating a separate CC entity.
Mier Wolf, Member, CareerCatchers, Inc. Board of Directors currently serves as a part-time Senior Fellow for Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and is responsible for creating an International Sister Cities program for the county. Active in county politics, Meir served on the Town Council for the Town of Chevy Chase for 24 years and as Mayor for 9 years. He was integrally involved in the building of the Leland Community Center (now the Lawton Center) and helped open the Capital Crescent trail as a hiker/biker facility. He served as Chris Van Hollen’s campaign chair when he was in the Maryland State Senate. In the nonprofit arena, Mr. Wolf is the Chair of Board of the Writer's Center and a member the Board of Directors of Round House Theatre. He served as President of CCRA (the community swim club), on the B-CC High School Foundation, the Leland Center Advisory Board, the Western Area Recreation Advisory Board, and the Bethesda Urban Partnership Board. He was Chair of GBCCC, a board to nourish the Capital Crescent Trail, and on the County Advisory Board for the 1990 Bethesda CBD Master Plan. Mr. Wolf retired in 2007 from Dept of Housing and Urban Development; he is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania and earned his JD at St. Johns University School of Law.
Gerald Aldridge, Member, CareerCatchers Board of Directors, retired in 2011 as the Manager of Business Services at MontogmeryWorks. In this capacity Gerald served the needs of workforce development in Montgomery County, working closely with the Department of Economic Development, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. He remains active in the workforce development field through membership on the Steering Committee for The Career Gateway, a program of the Jewish Council for the Aging. He continues to consult with the planning committee for various career fairs and seminars in the Washington Metro Area. Gerald’s background includes national management positions in Health Care Sales and Management as well as National Director of Hospital Representatives for the American Red Cross Biomedical Services Division.
